Breaking the walls of insecurities >>>>my journey to self-love

‘My securities’ is an exciting part of me that I want to share with you ladies out there. It is my reality and maybe yours too. It stems out of my insecurities, you know the ropes. The thought that you not as pretty, not as smart, not as sexy, not as rich etc. But I learnt that it never made me better it just made me feel more sad and made me feel more unworthy. I also learnt that I’m not the only one feeling like this and that there are more women who are insecure. I’m talking rich and fabulous, celebrities, people I thought are perfect in every way but at night they are like me: INSECURE. Who is this baby we are nursing who seems to take away our confidence, our genuine smiles, our calling and our uniqueness???? This baby blinds us from who we truly are and what we are in the eyes of our creator. What father in the world would create something ugly and unworthy?

The kind of women society portrays is impossible. There is nothing like flawless but there is being flawless in your flaws that is, you being comfortable in yourself regardless of what people say. Every flaw you see on yourself makes you who you are. It distinguishes you from everyone. We are different and I choose to own my difference. I choose not to look at the other person but to look at myself and my imperfections. Nobody has them like I do and I love them. I chose!!!! It is important to make a decision, either you going to continue being unhappy with yourself or you going to stand up and face the devil. Tell him that you are limitless, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. At first it may seem like nothing but you eventually going to believe it and then see it. “If you don’t like what you see, say what you want and you’ll see what you want.” We can’t go back to un-create what has already been created. What would we even ask?  Where would you be? Who’s going to fulfill your purpose, your journey and your calling. 

Girl, there’s nobody who can fake it like you do. There’s nobody who can perfect it like you do. Everyone deals with their own skeletons. You hate your legs, I hate my butt and she hates everything about herself the difference lies on how each one of us deals with our insecurities. I look at myself in the mirror and tell myself that there’s nothing wrong with me. I decided to love myself and nobody’s going to take me away from that decision because I’m happy. If anyone will try and make me feel inadequate they are out of my life. We can’t try and please people because they will never be pleased. “The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone is the moment to absolutely and utterly walk away.” –Alysia Harris

Our insecurities reflect on other people. If we can’t see ourselves as beautiful we will not see others. In a way when we get to set ourselves free from insecurities we get to free others around us as well. I know when I have nothing good to say about myself I’m going to look at someone I think is doing worse. See what insecurities do, they always compare you to someone else and in that comparison you are never better. So you are going to say a whole lot of nasty things about the other person so you can feel good about yourself but that will not make them disappear. Self-love, acceptance, confidence and non-comparison will set you free. 

 So this February there’s a baby we are laying to rest and another we are awakening. We are awakening self-love and confidence and laying down insecurities.  Ladies we can’t give what we don’t have. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. If we don’t love ourselves we can’t love our sisters and brothers. Instead of looking for a valentine this month find a valentine within yourself. It is amazing. Simply amazing.

Forgetting what is behind and pressing forward

A happy and prosperous New Year to you, I believe that God has better things in store for us in this season. God has already empowered you to succeed; you are equipped with all that you need to make it through this year no matter what the enemy throws at you. It gives me great joy to announce to you that we are overcomers in Christ Jesus, isn’t that amazing …..GLORY!!!!!

So in this post we will be talking about a few things that will help us keep our priorities straight and letting the main thing become the main thing, because if we want to see better results than those of 2013 we have to be prepared to make some serious changes. We all know that change is not easy because it needs serious commitment and discipline. And some people just don’t know how to go about making that change but I believe that this post will help shed some light.

Philippians 3

  
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:  but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.   13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:  but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  

I personally love this scripture because it helps me to put my life into perspective and encourages me to not live in the past but to allow the things that have past to be in the past but for me to focus on what is a head and not to remain stagnant in life over something that happened in the past.

Be Prepared to change and do things better

The Apostle Paul talks about forgetting things that are behind, which to me indicates a willingness to change and do things better. As we have entered into a new year we must be willing to put 2013 and its challenges even its successes in the past. We have entered into yet another season in our lives and if we want to move forward and actually participate in the blessings that come with this year we must forget the past and not even entertain it because we might find ourselves reliving 2013 in 2014 and actually miss out on the blessing comes with this year.

Your 2013 achievements must remain in 2013. This is a new year to make new achievements. DO NOT BE CAUGHT UP CELEBRATING YOUR PAST ACHIEVEMENTS WITH THE TIME THAT YOU SHOULD BE USING TO MAKE NEW ONES.

You must be willing to stand against opposition

The truth of the matter is in this life you will face opposition. There will be people who will think your ideas are not good enough or you are not the right person for this cause or you don’t have the capability to carry out such a mandate.

Such circumstances will require you to be courageous and stand for what you believe in. DO NOT LET FEAR HAVE ITS WAY, stand firm and do not be shaken even if you are the only one who believes in your plans, stand!!!!! Nothing in this life comes easily. So know that in this year 2014 opposition will come but you have to remain firm. Be courageous.  BE NOT AFRAID!!!

I am reminded of a woman called Esther in the bible. After Mordecai had persuaded her to go to the king to ask for help because Haman was plotting to kill the Jews. She was troubled by fear at first because no one was allowed into the king’s courts unless summoned by the king. But she later agreed to do so and she instructed all the Jews to pray and fast for her. And in the end of verse 16 of chapter 4 these were her words…..”And if I die, I die”. Woooooo!!!! That is courage I tell you.

Even in our walk this year opposition will come but we have to be willing to stand for what we believe in even if it means letting go of friends who do not edify us.

Facing your fears

Like Esther we must be willing to face our fears. I mean she knew very well that no one was allowed into the king’s chambers unless summoned but courage took a hold of her to a point where she said if I die, I die. And I believe in her heart she was saying that I will not let my people die if there is something that I can do about it.

You also cannot let fear dictate your future or your walk with God stand firm in His word.

Don’t play safe

Jesus said in John 10:10 (b)” I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly “

Whatever you want to achieve this year GO FOR IT…do not hold back or try to play it safe because you are terrified of people’s opinions. There is nothing stopping you from fulfilling your God given mandate, face your fears and take the risk. Have faith in God. Do not let unbelief take up residence in you. Be strengthened in the Lord and fearlessly walk in your purpose and calling.

Learn to prioritise according to weights

Some things in life carry more weight than others, that’s why it is very important to prioritise. Let the main thing become the main thing. Things like your time in the word and prayer should be the main priority in life. In fact God should be your main priority. There is no other way, if you love God you will spend time with Him in His presence, reading the word, praying and worshipping Him, there is no short cut to that.

If you are a student your books should also be in the top priorities. Now with the extra time that you have left you can look at other spheres of your life that need improvement and engage in things that will help you improve those areas. You can take up leadership roles where necessary, invest in reading, exercising and many other things. When that is sorted you can now fit in stuff like television, games etc.

Do not do things or make decisions haphazardly

One of the biggest things I got to learn in 2013 is to wait on the Lord and to do things in his timing. Doing things without proper planning and timing leads to scattered progress. What that means is you do not see clearly the progress of your projects in life just because there is so much going on and there was no proper planning.

You have the potential to be whoever you want in life. But it is up to you to decide on what you want to see in your life. MAKE THE DECISION NOW!!!!!

1. Mentorship Programme

The purpose Driven mentorship programme is designed to assist young women who are trying to make in various areas in life. It is open for primary,high school and tertiary students. The program is made to provide guidence in careers, life style or any other challenge that our young women are facing. We realised that while some people may know where they want to be in life, most of them do no have an idea on how they are going to get there. The mentorship program is designed to bridge such a gap by making information available in order to help you plan and strategise for your life effectively.

It is also to encourage young women to get educated because education is one of the most important things in life. At purpose driven we believe knowledge is power.

The mentorship program will consist of workshops all over the country where we will have various leaders sharing wisdom that they acquired in life in their sphere of influence.

2. Weekend Retreat

We will also be having a weekeng retreat in September this year where we are going to have various influencial women addressing us on topics like;

- The role of women in society
- women in business
- How to start your own business
- A submitting woman
- Relationships
- Health and lifestyle
- Careers, and many more fun and important topics

This weekend Retreat will be taking place at Magalies Retreat just Outside Johannesburg. The Estimated cost for this retreat is R 700 which includes transport, accomodation for the two nights and meals ( Lunch and supper for Sat and Sunday and breakfast for for sat and sunday)

Welcome to 2014 all you purpose driven women. I am very convinced that it is going to be a goood year because we serve a faithful and great God. But the success of 2014 depends on what each of us choose to do with it. God has already empowered us to succeed and no one can stand in the way of your success unless you allow it.

This year purpose driven has a lot in store for you begining from the month of february we have a series on love and relationships, we will be looking at relationships from a deeper contex, that is from God's standard and many other issues that young women deal with and face with in relationships. You don't want to miss our posts this year because we will be going deeper and deepper in the word of God searching for the truth that will liberate us as women after God's own heart. Our main objective is to get you to a place where you see yourself from God's standards.

Purpose driven the organisation sees a generation of women who will impact the world with the abilities that God has given them. We are shaping a new breed of women who will walk in the will of God fearlessly and courageously.

If it is fashion we got you covered, our fashion section of the blog that will launch soon will gives you tips monthly on how to dress modestly as a woman of purpose for work, church etc. We will also cover health issues, sports, leadership skills, life style, advice columns and most importantly education. Yes! we have to get educated ladies.
