What are you wearing this #Summer

Summer is an expressive season. The kind of clothes you wear and the colour of the clothes you wear somehow speak a lot about how you are feeling and for most people summer is that time of the year that they want to chill and relax and just reflect on how good the year has been and appreciate their achievements with family and friends. So most people want to look good during this season but they don’t want to put on a lot of layers since it is very hot.

So in this post Khensani and I will be going through some interesting clothing items that you can have during these season depending on your body shape and how you can rock these items.

Summer Dresses
A chic yellow summer dresses for instance may indicate that you are a joyful and full of life.

whereas a black summer dress may indicate self-confidence, power and mystery.

Summer inspires bold colours such as neon and it is just a fun, fun season where you can have fun with cute colourful outfits. It is important to note that although it is the hottest season and most expressive season, we must remember to dress appropriately as purpose driven women. Dressing for your body type is a key to dressing in a way that is elegant, classy and respectable.

Whenever I dress, I always want to be defined. What I mean is how I dress should scream who I am and who I want to be. If your dream is to be an attorney or an economist, you dress up like you are already one right now. In essence when you dress, be who you are and be comfortable. Clothes look amazing with a little bit of confidence, nobody will question your outfit when you give it confidence.

Tank tops. I’m crazy about loose tank tops. They are cool, like literally cool and chic and can be worn with denim shorts, maxi skirts and trousers. Maxi skirts look good on everyone and can be very sexy when worn with a bra top.

Floral and printed pants+Skirts

If you are a risk taking lady, these are for you. They are a definite must have and Solange Knowles rocks them with a white loose tank top. They define what summer is all about and still make a statement of the kind of lady that you are.

Lace Shorts, Skirts and dresses

Lace is just beautiful ladies and it is a fresh look.

Sporty Dresses

It is a summer must-have. They are gorgeous and comfortable.

How to dress for your body type

Pear shaped women look good in wide skirts and strapless tops and dresses. While apple shaped women should grab A-line skirts as they show of your lovely legs. If you are petite dresses are your best friend. Try them with stripes and patterns. For hour glass women peplums look fantastic on you as well as high-waisted skirts and pants.

I hope this will help you ladies look stunning this summer. But don’t forget that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God so clothes don’t make you make them ladies. Remember to look good and modestly as a purpose driven woman of God.

Also remember anyone can look chic in inexpensive clothes….Simple accessories complete the outfit.

How to live and maintain a positive lifestyle

One of the most precious things that my mom taught me that I will treasure forever is surrounding myself with positivity. My mom would not allow anything negative around her or allow me to talk negative about myself or anybody. In this post I will share some of the things that help me to approach life in a positive manner and in turn inspire me to go out and fulfill my God given purpose with confidence and no shame. Dr Mike Murdock in one of his teachings once said that if you can stay inspired in life you will surely succeed in whatever you want to achieve.

So from all of that I made a decision that I will not allow negativity in my life, instead of looking at what I do not have and start complaining about things that I do not have I choose to be grateful for what I have and when I start doing that I realize how blessed I am.

Things that I do almost every day to help me stay positive

1. Set the tone for your  day
I believe that how you start your day determines how the rest of your day is going to be. If you wake being upset and angry at the world that sets a tone for the rest of your day and you are most likely not to enjoy the 24 hours given to you by God to make a difference in your life and in other people’s lives. I always view a day as a gift from God and an opportunity to make a difference in the world we are living in, so every morning I wake up with that mind set of gratitude to God and that kind of sets the tone for my day.

2. Morning prayer and bible study
Well, I am a born again Christian and I believe in the power of prayer and that’s what I do every day at five o’clock in the morning. So I wake up at five every day to pray and study the word of God and kind of declare what I want to see in that particular day and how I want to treat people as well. I love praying in the morning because I am still fresh and to be honest I know that once I jump out of that bed I might not get time to pray and intimately enjoy God as I want to because as they say “life happens”.

3. Jogging
I seriously love jogging especially in the morning because that is how I get time to kind of plan how my day is going to be and to really reflect on my life and think of the areas that need improvement. While I’m jogging I often listen to songs by Hillsong, Jesus Culture and many more.

4. Daily Planner
The next thing I do after jogging is to visit my daily planner, yes I do have one. I know that some people use their smartphones and so on but I prefer writing things down, there is no particular reason for that it is just a preference. I get to see what my day looks like and kind of plan how I am going to use my time effectively.

5. My positive Board
I am a student and in our rooms at res we have boards where you can stick things like your timetable and other things. Well I use half of it for school work and the other half is called my positive board and that is where I like to stick things that inspire me, it may be quotes, pictures of people who inspire me, my goals, pictures of shoes I want to buy and many more other things. I tell you this works all the time because when I look at the board I get inspired hahahahaha!!!!

6. Books, sermons and documentaries
I don’t read books as much as I would like to, but I always find myself reading a book even though it takes me a long time to finish it. Most books that I have read were by Dr Myles Munroe. I love Dr Myles simply because he helped me to understand the importance of purpose from a very young age and how vital it is for one to know their purpose. I also read some books by Dr Mike Murdock and they helped understand how valuable time is and how it should be managed responsibly. I also love listening to sermons by Joel Osteen to help me stay positive. Documentaries about people who have achieved great things are the best to watch for me because I get to see how ordinary people managed to conquer everyday challenges to fulfill their purpose in life.

7. Eating healthy foods
This one is still my biggest challenge because for some reason I just love junk food and I feel bad after eating it. So I decided to start eating healthily because I feel good that way and it makes me happy to know that I am taking good care of my body, because it is the temple of the Holy Ghost. So instead of snacking on unhealthy junk food which most students around me do I prefer going for fat free packaged snacks, fruits and I also drink a lot of water.

8. Looking good
“When you look good, you feel good”, that is very true so I always try to make an effort when it comes to what I decide to wear and it works all the time. I always tell my friends that what I’m wearing is an expression of how I am feeling that day.

9. Family and Friends
I always thank God that I have family and friends who are always there for me. They support me in every way possible and they are always there for me in times of need to encourage me. One person I would like to highlight is my dad, after losing my mom my dad became both a mother and a father to me. He has gone out of his way to make sure that I move forward with life by encouraging me from day to day to keep on holding on to God. I love you daddy, you are the best dad for me.

10. My Journal
I am one of those people who like journaling the activities that took place in my day. I often do this at the end of the day when I’m reflecting on how my day was and it helps me to always remain grateful because I always realise how faithful God has been at the end of each and every day

So these are the few things that help me to stay positive and to constantly approach life with confidence and courage.

He has captured my heart....

I recently listened to a song sang by Matt Stinton from Bethel Church called your love is extravagant. The lyrics to this song just removed another veil and made me see the love of God in another dimension. It made me realize that we cannot fully walk in love until we understand the love of God for us, by fully walking in love I mean it will be difficult for us to love other people and to do everything in love.

Ephesians  3 (KJV)
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Apostle Paul in the above scripture talks about something so very powerful that if we were to understand it and soak ourselves in it our whole lives will be changed. For a very long time I read this scripture but I could never understand what Paul was saying but I thank God for the Holy Ghost for he leads us into all truth. In verse 17, we can see that one receives this love by having faith in Jesus Christ, so by receiving Christ into our lives we are also receiving his love for us but it does not just end there.

The Scripture continues to say that being rooted and grounded in love (what love?), the love that we have freely received by faith. So how does one get grounded in this love, because yes, we have received it by believing in him who first loved us. But what does the scripture mean by being grounded? Being grounded means being fully conscious or being fully aware of something. So when we are fully conscious and aware of the love we will be able to walk in it.

So in order for one to be grounded in love, one needs to receive this love first and then get to understand this love through scripture. Yes! through scripture, in my previous posts I have mentioned how the word of God has power to change situations because it reveals to us who God is and in turn who we are because we were made in his image. Meditate on the word day and night and I tell you it will change your life forever.

In verse 18 and 19 the scripture says that "may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—  to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." This portion of the Scripture talks about knowing the love of God. It is to perceive, that is to know by revelation, its width, length, depth and height. This love is too much that one cannot just know it by human understanding. So that we may be filled with all the fullness of God, this is mind blowing. The fullness of God, because God is love so by knowing and being grounded in love we shall be filled with ALL the fullness of God. Think about that for a moment. If we live with this consciousness we will never see defeat in our lives because love never fails, it always wins. I still say, love is the most powerful force on earth.

While listening to the song I couldn't help it but to just cry, I didn't even have enough words to thank God for his love that he demonstrated through Christ Jesus. I found my self on the floor in my room just in awe of his love. How can one even begin to talk about this love, it is beyond human comprehension one can only understand it by revelation through the Holy Spirit. Everyday I get to see another side to it, it is the most beautiful thing. woooooo! the joy that comes with knowing that Christ loves me and he died for my sake and I am seated in heavenly places in him (Ephesians 2:6) is overwhelming. we are no ordinary human beings, glory be to God!

The song says this love covers sin, eh! what a love. Let us soak ourselves in the love of Christ, let us be fully grounded in this love. Let us make time in our daily schedules to spend time in his presence meditating on this great love and let this love perfect your ways, because love fulfills the law (Romans 13:8) hence walking in love means walking in perfection. Yes, perfection 1Corintians 13 shows us how powerful love is;
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
Yes! that is you. You can live a life like that. Just take time in his presence meditating on this truth and it shall set you free. Devour the word of God like never before, get to know his love for you and begin to walk in perfection. Glory!

Below is the link to the song, enjoy.

The love Journey.... Battling with Unforgiveness

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us"Romans 5:5

I always use to struggle with forgiving people who have wronged me or continue to love them despite what they did to me. I just felt like it was so unreal for a person to forgive someone who caused them pain and hurt. I mean let us be real, how do you forgive someone who murdered your loved ones or someone who raped you or molested you, how do you get to a point where you say I have completely forgiven you. For me that was just to good to be true and for God to require us to forgive, such was just too much to ask. Yes! I did think like that and most people around us think like that and hence we have a lot of broken people in the world.

You see unforgiveness can give birth to all sorts of evil in our hearts, because by holding on to hurt we give the enemy a way to creep in and he begins to influence evil thoughts concerning the lives of people whom we are failing to forgive. Because sometimes when we try to forgive certain people they keep repeating the same thing, so I got to a point where I was bitter and angry and I started plotting all sorts of evil things in my heart and just not hoping for good in that particular person's life.

The most scary thing was, unforgiveness became a burden to me because every time I would see that person my happiness will suddenly disappear, there would be some form of heaviness in my heart that I can't even explain. It would be as if my chest has been hit by a car and it was so uncomfortable. This burden was stopping me from doing everything, I didn't enjoy my self in the presence of God, I didn't enjoy prayer, I felt condemned. My relationship with God was just suffering and I was the one in bondage.

Unforgiveness, hate, envy and all these things are like poison and they slowly destroy us, they steal joy from us and stop us from walking in freedom because the enemy makes us think that it is better for us to hold on to what the other person did to us because they were WRONG, but you know God in his word teaches us to forgive over and over again because he himself forgave us our trespass and out of a place of love gave his son  Christ Jesus to die in our place. In the scripture above Paul talks about the God  kind of love that has been shared abroad in our hearts, we have the love of God in our Spirit, we can forgive and love like God. The first time I read that scripture with understanding something in me jumped, In my previous post I mentioned that the word of God has power, it has life  in it and whenever it is spoken life is transferred into situations. It was as if a veil had been removed and I could clearly see the truth that has now led to my freedom.

So I began meditating and confessing the scripture, " I have the God kind of love in me, I walk in love, I move in love, I operate in love, I associate in love and I respond in love". And the love of God began to take over my life I first got to fully understand the love of God FOR me and through that I began to walk in freedom, I would see the person and my heart would just love them. I continued confessing the scriptures daily and change was taking place, until I got to a place where I fully understood that love is not shaken by circumstances, when we love we love, the person's behavior or attitude does NOT determine how we love them.

1 Corinthians 13:8 says that love NEVER fails. It is the most powerful force on earth. It is the most powerful weapon that we can use to win souls into the kingdom of God. I am free now in Jesus name! Love rules in my life, everything that I do I do through the inspiration of the love of God. HALLELUJAH! GLORY BE TO GOD, who first loved us and in the same way we LOVE others, because we are made in his image and likeness. As he is, so are we.

As a result of unforgiveness, the following became a reality in my life:

1. Unforgiveness stops us from walking in the fullness of what God called us to do.
When I was dealing with this issue of unforgiveness in my life I began to realize that it was stopping me from walking in the fullness of what God called me to because I would restrict my self  to certain things because I didn't want to get hurt. For example if you you grew up in an environment where your father was always beating your mother, marriage would become an ugly thing to you, that is why most young women don't want to get married because they think marriage is like that. But these are lies from the enemy, marriage is of God and hence meant to be enjoyed.

2. Unforgiveness hinders us from enjoying ourselves in the presence of God.
You know I would always struggle to worship or to fully delve in the presence of God because there would be a constant reminder in my mind of unforgiveness. But I thank God for his word transformed my mind and now I walk in love.

3. Unforgiveness hinders us from walking in the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus.
Christ Jesus has set us free from every bondage in this world by dying for us on the cross. We are free, for whom the son of man sets free is free indeed. Holding grudges against people not only makes us bitter but it is also not good for our health. That just shows how dangerous unforgiveness is.

Now I thank the almighty God, my father, my king infact my all for giving me the grace to understand and receive his love for me, but most of all the grace to love others as he loved me.

Identity Crisis

When God would give me a desire to do something I would step back and say that I am not good enough or say I don't fit to do it, so growing up as a teenager I would always be in the background for everything because I always looked down upon my self thinking I am not good enough because I don't have this and that.

But when I was around people I would confidently say "I know who I am, I am a child of God, I am royalty, I have dominion BUT that was just talk because such was not a reality in my life. I was not fully persuaded of who I was in Christ and hence when God would tell me to do this I would give an excuse as to why I am not fit to do it and I would call that "humility". This bothered my mom so much, she would always tell me that if you can take time to discover who God created you to be, and get to see yourself the way he sees you, you would stop feeling sorry for yourself and start living out who you really are.

My mom's words were always ringing in my heart to a point where I decided that it is time for me to get things in order and know who I am. So now the question was how do I do that and the answer was the word of God. So I began to go through the scriptures in search of who I am and things began to change, you see the word of God has power. Paul said in 2Timothy 3:16-17 that all scripture is God breathed and it is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

So now I was beginning to look at my self through the word of God and everything that was not like God became a lie to me.

You see if we don't know who we are the enemy will always pull us into a corner where we think that we cannot do anything great while greatness is who we are because  we were made in the image and likeness of God who created the whole universe. This is what the enemy did to Eve by telling her that if she eats of the tree of good and evil she will be like God, but Eve was already like God because she was made in his image and likeness. So when God called out for Adam and Eve after they had eaten of the tree of good and evil Adam answered and said that "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked so I hid". But look at what God said, he said that who told you that you were naked"?

So my question to you is, who told you that you can't make it, who told you that you are not good enough. You are just like God, created in his image and likeness, destined to rule and reign. So let us not believe the lies of the enemy but let us build ourselves up with the word of God.
